Nights, weekends, public holidays
After-hours and same-day body collection across KwaZulu-Natal
Deaths do not wait for office hours. Our dispatch line takes calls and WhatsApp messages at any hour for urgent, same-day, overnight and weekend refrigerated body collection between authorised facilities in KZN.
What actually happens on an urgent call
An after-hours request goes through exactly the same checks as a weekday one: who is instructing the job, where the collection is, which facility is receiving, and whether the documentation is ready. Nothing is skipped because a call comes in at 02:00.
What changes outside business hours is logistics rather than process. The two things that decide whether a body can be collected tonight or first thing tomorrow are almost never the vehicle. They are whether the release paperwork is complete, and whether the receiving mortuary or funeral parlour can physically accept a delivery at that hour. If you can tell us both when you call, we can usually give you a realistic time on the first conversation instead of the third.
- Urgent and same-day collection within the core Cato Ridge, Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Upper Highway area.
- Overnight, weekend and public holiday dispatch for undertakers and funeral directors whose own driver is unavailable.
- Longer routes to the North Coast, South Coast and Northern KZN scheduled rather than dispatched immediately.
- Hospital and clinic release collections once the facility has confirmed the release.
Transport-only disclaimer: A 24/7 dispatch line means we answer at any hour. It is not a guarantee of collection within a fixed time. Acceptance and timing always depend on documentation, route distance, receiving-facility availability and vehicle readiness. Body Transport Solutions is not a funeral parlour or mortuary, and does not store, prepare or arrange funerals.

Can you collect a body the same day?
Often yes, within the core KZN area around our Cato Ridge base. Same-day collection depends on documentation being ready, the receiving facility being able to accept delivery, and vehicle availability at that moment.
Do you take calls at night and over weekends?
Yes. The dispatch line accepts calls and WhatsApp messages at any hour, including nights, weekends and public holidays. What changes outside business hours is scheduling, not whether we answer.
What slows down an urgent collection?
Almost always documentation and the receiving end. If release paperwork is still pending or the destination facility cannot accept a delivery at that hour, the route waits regardless of how fast the vehicle is.
