Private, state and facility-to-facility transfers
Private and state mortuary transfer service in KwaZulu-Natal
We provide the refrigerated transport leg between mortuaries, hospitals and funeral parlours across KZN. That includes private mortuary transfers, branch-to-branch moves, and collections from state mortuary facilities once the authorised party has the release in place.
Where a mortuary transfer fits
Mortuary transfer work covers several different journeys that all need the same thing from us: a refrigerated vehicle, a driver who handles the deceased with care and discretion, and a paper trail at both ends. The most common are a private mortuary moving someone to the funeral parlour handling the service, a multi-branch operator consolidating between branches, and a collection from a state mortuary once that process has concluded.
The state mortuary route is worth being precise about, because it is where most delay and most frustration sits. Where a death is unnatural, sudden or unexplained, the case goes to a state facility under the Forensic Pathology Service, and release timing is governed by that process and any related investigation. We are not a party to any of it. We cannot expedite a release, obtain one on your behalf, or influence when a post-mortem is completed. What we can do is be ready to move the moment the instructing undertaker or authorised next of kin confirms the release is in place.

Related services and coverage
Can you collect from a state mortuary?
We can carry out the transport leg once the state mortuary has completed its process and the authorised undertaker or next of kin has the release in place. We have no role in and no influence over the release itself, which sits with the Forensic Pathology Service and any related investigation.
Do you transfer between two private mortuaries?
Yes. Mortuary-to-mortuary and parlour-to-parlour transfers are routine work, including branch transfers for multi-branch funeral services businesses.
Can you speed up a release from a state facility?
No. Release timing is entirely outside our control. We are a transport contractor, not a party to the release, the post-mortem process or any investigation. We collect once the instructing authorised party confirms the release is complete.
